Kerr Lake 3-25,26
Fished in the extreme upper end of the lake in both rivers, around the split and bluestone. Caught some good fish after the storms moved out Sunday night. 4 flatties and some blues. Nothing over 25. Caught a few the next day but the current was ripping and the wind was blowing so I didnt stay out too long because my anchor lines (yes i needed two anchors) kept getting tons of debris on them and then it would push me downstream.
There is so much water coming down the rivers, the water has turned into chocolate milk and I saw a 70 foot tree (complete with cormorants roosting in the branches) floating by in the current . The upper end of the lake has gotten totally choked up with floating timber. The water in the lake is way way up so all the timber that was already down lake on the shore is now floating again as well so be careful navigating out there. Especially at night, you really have to watchout. Some of the stuff floating around has been in the rivers for a really long time and is barely visible above the water line (iceberg style). Quite a few of the snags that were in the river only a week ago have now broken loose and are floating (barely) in the main lake.
The fish appear to be biting though the water was around 70 in the upper lake and bluestone before the storms, but the water was 60 or below out in the upper end after.
