    Default badin dam carp

I was at the Badin dam the last two saturdays looking for shad (not there yet), and saw a lot of carp jumping out of the water. I thought they would be fun to catch. Any ideas on what bait or how to catch them when they are breaking the surface like that. any thoughts would be great.

when there jumping around an doing a lot of splashing there breeding they will not bite an next thing are they common carp or asian carp that the dnr put in the lakes a couple years ago if they are the asian carp they jump out of fear. i have never carp fished out of a boat cuz its kinda hard to watch your line for movement when your boat keeps moving not saying it can't be done but it aint going to be eazy an with weather mest up like it has been this year im seeing fish in places they should not be this time of year its like we are a month a head

I've never really fished for them but I did hook one once catfishing.
I usually have a light weight rod with earth worms on it and usually catch small catfish or bream and had a big carp hit it one time.
I played it for awhile before it got off.

I've heard you can catch them off of corn, bread and doughballs but like I said I've never fished for them.

corn does work best but i use a packbait that has took me 15 years of trial an error to get it right but what i learnt works in every water that ive fished with it. it drives carp wild once they get the sent of it they can't get to it fast enough now i don't go to pay lake to fish for carp aint going to happen theres no fun in that 50 to 60 pound carp you can reel in with 6 pound test line becuz they been hooked so many times theres no fight im all about the fight so i river carp fish an it just so happens that catfish like my bait also after it gets sour.
