Default South Georgia Channels on the Altamaha

I took my son out fishing this morning on the Altmaha. We put in at the Town's Bluff landing and got about three hours fishing before the bottom fell out. Wes caught about a three pound channel that gave him a fit in the current. He got about a five pounder to the edge of the boat and it got off, hehe. The water temp was 71.5 and we were fishing in about 12 feet of water. I forgot my camera so I had to make do with the camera on my Blackberry. All in all we caught about ten good channels for about 24 pounds of cat.

We had a blast! The channel that my son caught in the picture almost didn't make it to the boat. He was using one of my old Zebco reels and the drag was whining most of the time. I had bought a cl60a and a cl70a a couple of weeks ago and I was fishing with them. He talked me into using the Cl60a and pretty much layed claim to it after that. I don't blame him.

Yep I remember my first rod and reel that my granddad gave was a Zebco 808. It was way too big for me but he said I'd grow into it. He had a Zebco 33 he let me use til then. I think the reel my son was using was one of the Zebco Heat reels. I don't think they make those anymore, haven't seen one in stores in a while. A four pound channel in fast current gave it a fit but it brought it to the boat,:-)

My granddad started me off on zebco's and I have stuck with them ever since. I have them from a 33 to a 888.
