Good morning from Lake Norman where we are in for a nice day and the weather numbers indicate it might be A OK : 27/63/45, with wind out of the ESE at 5 to 10 MPH, with plenty of sunshine. When I pick up the Sports Writer at 9:30 AM it should be around 39 degrees. WG's say the wind will shift to the South around high noon.
Off and on yesterday, I harvested some of the blue gills hanging around under the LUND. Their size runs from 2.5 inches to hand size. They will be making the trip with me alive and I will prepare them for Mr. & Mrs Whiskers as I need them. Primary bait today will be CBMIGP, but I will stop on the way to the pick up area and buy a dozen of 6 inch Gizzard Shad, just in case.
There is no set time limit to be on the water today, because I will be out thar to get the job done, no matter what ! It would be nice to get a couple of trophy cats in the water quickly, but most likely that will not happen. I will make this projection, the big fish will visit the LUND in the time period of 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, right with the shift in the wind from ESE to South.
I have already applied the SWAG system to my fishing location and the outcome deemed that I made the right selection. I'm rested because I feel asleep a little after 6 PM last night, got up at 10:15 PM, read some rambling, then went back to bed at midnight and slept until 4:30 AM. What a sleeping pattern !
At first light I will be changing out all my shock leaders and hooks with some never used ones. Also will be stripping off about 15 feet of existing fishing line, just in case there is a nick in that portion of the line or abrasions from previous outings. As Big 'G' says, don't take a knife to a gun fight !
