Attempt To Shoot Caged Raccoon Backfires

A rural Redfield, Iowa man was treated Saturday for two gunshot wounds after an attempt to shoot a raccoon caught in a live trap backfired.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said 68-year-old Larry Godwin was using a .22-caliber handgun to shoot the caged raccoon around 11 a.m. when the bullet ricocheted off the cage and struck him in the lower abdomen on the right side. He dropped the gun and it fired again, shooting him again in about the same spot.

He was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines by private vehicle. The DNR said the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

My question is did the raccoon live to shoot another day?

Now this news report was sorta disturbing to me as it stated that Mr.Larry Goodwin AKA Larry Badshot was from the Great State Of Iowa. So I decided to do me a little research on Coon Killer Larry(You know Googled him up on the puter) and low and behold I finds out that Larry has just recently Im-a-magrated fron the Great of State of Illionillinie where He just recently retired as the head Possum Shooter and Crappie Catchin instructer for the Illionillinie DNR.Just what I thought, Larry Coonkiller was a Transplant. Hay Tuna or Carrott did you fellas know this guy ? Seems to me that you both needs to send Larry a Get Well Card or something.

Bob my Son-in law that is married to the Stepdaughter Kelly went fishing Sunday and caught him 12 crappie,9 to 11 inches and took um home and cleaned them in the kitchen sink while Kelly was fixing supper. Now Needless to say Kelly Ain't happy bout that,Can ya say Divorce ?? So's I need to get over there and smooth things out for they get anymore out of hand cause I don't want them moving back in with us !!! Either that or Really Fast Rip out the spare bedroom. I sure hope OPIE stayed up and watched the NASTY boys and girl do their thing last night. Within minutes of the start of the race, a million dollars worth of race cars were damaged, including the feelings of the five time NASCAR Champion Jimmy Johnson and the Queen got caught up in it and was sidelined for 60 some laps. And the icing on the cake was when the number 42 car took out the jet dryer and created some fireworks ! Most of them will be heading back to 'Denver of the East' to rest up, make repairs and then they will all head back out Thursday to put on the show again.

More pleasant weather in store for my area today, such as 34/64/45, with some mild wind out of the East at 5 to 10 MPH.

Had an inquiry from CH late yesterday wanting to know what Paw fixed fer supper. So here goes, slowed cooked a corned beef brisket in the electric crock pot fer five hours, then I let it cool a tad and used Loads fillet knife to slice it real thin. Sides were steamed cabbage (from my garden), some left overs and some scour dough bread and desert was Snicker's ice cream.

Saw a word this AM on the USCA that I didn't know what it was as it related to fishing, so I looked it up. The word was 'boilies', which we call dough balls round here. JDS, I read the news about the fellow getting shot trying to kill the animal in his trap, not once, but twice. Now ifin it was in my trap, which has caught a few coons, stray cats and opossums in the past, I wouldn't be wasting no bullet on them. I just pick up the cage by a rope that is attached and take them down to my dock and lower them in the lake fer a spell, then I take them out and put them in the gully next to my property and let the critters eat them. See, I'm into the green stuff, recycling that is.

I wonder ifin anybody has informed the Chief of all Chiefs that the photo attachment thingy is not working !

Good morning boys and girls. Up pretty early today, aint we. No drama to report on this end so, I guess thats a good thing. Had laser surgery on the jaw and teeth yesterday. Had the gas (nitrous) for the first time ever. That there is some good chit, I mean to tell ya. Even better than sucking on a whip cream can. ISYN. Looks like I'm gonna be able to keep my real teeth instead of some George Washington specials. Liquid diet for the next week. Dang it. No work so far this week and the fish are calling me. They're going to have to wait as the to-do list just won't go away. Does it ever? Thinking about making up a batch of breakfast sausage.
