If it will help reduce the number of fishing tournaments for any species of fish at Milford Lake, I will give it a standing ovation, along with quite a few others who fish and treasure Milford Lake!!!

Hi everyone, new here. Hate to come in angry, but KDWP really pi$$ed me off this time.
Honestly I don't have the time or the resources to comply with the new regulations.
I fish out of 14' flatbottom with an 8 hp mariner, and that is all I want and need. we run a few lines , pole fish the county lakes. I know I can buy bait and I don't have problem with it. The problem I have is finding enough bait or bait that is big enough and hardy enough to last through the night. My sumpbasin bait tank and 5 gallon boatwell just doesn't cut it with store bought bait. If I'm running lines, we are fishing 12-0 hooks with at least two dozen 6"-10" gills and bullheads. And another 4 dozen smaller gills.
Yes I could catch some on the river, but that many of that size is going to be tough to do. So it looks like goldfish and undersized gills from here on out. Pay my money, give the gar the goldfish. And run them fewer times during the night.
Anyone out there feel the same way, I'm going to link KDWP blog. Let them know what you think.

Yes this is one bad law they put into place. But its better then what they was trying for, they had on the ballot for last year to pass a law where no one could catch their own bait! It would mean you buy them from a liscnesed bait shop and get a recipt or you would be in big trouble. What I was told was it has alot to do with the asian carp as well. That to an novice angler a baby big head and a shad look to similar and they could take them live carp to a lake thinking they was shad and then the lake would be doomed. I can see why this is in place but I dont agree with it! Instead of making laws agaisnt catfisherman they need to make getting a fishing license more strick... If losing this law would mean I have to take a fish habitat and invasive speices corse just like a hunters safty corse then so be it sign me up for classes! Becuse if anyone stands in the way of me and my flatheads we are gonna have a big problem! If all it take is alittle more education to stop these threats then why make up laws to get money? Just make fisherman take classes! Just an idea but I think its a good one!

Jeff, I'm starting to see more merit in some of it. Ex.... I think it would be relatively easy for an asian carp to be picked up in the spillway of somewhere like Tuttle creek and then moved into the lake.
I still don't agree with dumping livewells or restricting flathead bait on the rivers. Pulling perch, or bullheads out of a pasture...not a lot of risk.

im confused how that would be good.....arent a majority of fishing tournaments catch and release? idk, doesn't really make any sense to me why limiting fishing in any way would be good.......i mean its a sport and a passion for a lot of people....any limiting or laws that prevent from it from being practiced are kinda jacked up imo, i mean some regulations are needed for preservation and protection of the ecosystem, but other than that i don't see any reason why fishing should be regulated in any other way, but I'm really not trying to argue with anybody....im just stating my opinion....which I'm sure people aren't going to agree with and will judge me.....but nothing i can do about it.....

I caught a green sunfish on a jig today which means that I'm going to catch some on worms this weekend and go fishing.

The fish will not grow big again until government regulates the amount of herbicide, pesticide and fertilizer that wash into the rivers from farmers fields and other places.

Ray, I hope those weren't wild caught worms
Just joking of course, but give it a couple of years.

I think they're an invasive species from Canada, surprised they weren't outlawed years ago.
