I was talking about when there are events at Milford and the ramp is at the state park at the dam and they allow you to trailer to the upper end of the lake then you are on public roads with live fish and water in the tank.

I don't see that as a big deal. Drive the boat to the upper end of the lake. People do it every day. I don't think you will convince KDWP that the law is a bad idea because you can't trailer 13 miles instead of driving the boat to the upper end.

I know the KCCatfish tourneys don't allow trailering. I suppose that if some of the other ones have allowed it in the past they will have to adjust, but it shouldn't be a big deal. Seems we all have to adjust a little bit for this.

This came up after talking to a few that fish the events and one that puts them on. It came up because some do not have a boat that will handle the lake when it get real rough out there. This is when it came in handy for them to drive up. I was never saying I was going to convince any one I was just saying its going to put a damper on some events and maybe put some at risk since some of the upper brass could not answer the question about this being ok for events or not. The guys were just saying its really putting a lot of $$$ on the guys that want to do the events even more so now since they need now a different boats. IT takes it away from some of the weekend fishing guys that want to try the evens and have fun doing so.

Dan, you are right about the trailering rules being a problem for us tournament directors and fishermen alike. I am still trying to hash this out and get a consistant answer from KDWP. This of course is not the easiest thing to accomplish.

If that is the reason someone needs to trailer for a tournament, maybe they need to sit out a couple years. Use the money they save and get a boat that is safe enough to fish out of. If I show up to fish a tourney in a paddle boat, I don't expect rule changes to accommodate me. If the conditions are that dangerous then maybe the tournament should be postponed.

I wonder how long until catch and release will have rules against it.

I had a trailering rule in as a convienence to the anglers as well as the liability for them. I felt that the tournaments are supposed to be fun and not a unneeded risk. Not to mention the fuel used by the fishermen during the day adding to the overall cost. I consider everyone who enters our tournaments a friend and would like it to be a positive experience. But now if we can't legally trailer we will have to look at some conditions differently. It is what it is and we will deal with it accordingly.

David, I think it's cool that you are trying to support the smaller boats. I just don't see KDWP making an exception to allow it. I've been wrong before, and I wish you luck on that front.
