DP it was the same type of town hall style meeting they had last year, basically a chance for us to get all the head DNR guys in one room and discuss KY's laughable regulations.

Same problem in west ky, a lot of guys want to complain all the time about paylakes and netting but won't spend there PRECIOUS time to go to these meetings and let the state know how they feel, never gonna get anything done this way, almost a waste of time. I hear about gas prices until I am sick at my stomach, guess what it cost everybody the same, they say they don't have time, but they have time to do other things.

Paypond owners and Commercial fisherman from KY and Ohio didn't have a bit of problem making it to BOTH the Indiana meetings last year.
Afraid KY would follow suit if Indiana Changed their regulation, they hired a lawyer..... in Indianapolis, KY commercial fisherman mocked our biologist... one CF even made the statement at the meeting that Indiana Biologist didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground and should all be fired for proposing limits on catfish... If it weren't for the KY and Ohio commercial fisherman and paypond owners- Indiana would have amended its regulations.
You can't convince me there is not some crooked bullshit going on.... When State Biologist recommend changes to preserve and protect their trophy catfish fishery and it's ignored.....

Here you go mark.... I'll post the justification statement by our biologist for the proposal if you're interested, but study this and tell me what you think.
Be sure to not to miss James Reeds comments he made at the Indianapolis hearing, and make note of cf residence.

I think this is fairly simple, the problem is even though its simple not enough people TRULY care enough to get off their tail's and try to make a difference. Mark j i agree, it is time to get political. But its hard to go that route when there isnt even enough people willing to show their faces at a small meeting anywhere except IN. Faces = dollars, faces = money spent on in state and out of state licenses, as well as other ways that can benefit said state's ecomomy. KY thinks that the money generated by CF somehow out weighs the money generated by recreational Anglers. To me recreational encompasses every type of fisherman that is not commercial fishing. It could be the weekend angler, tournament anglers, etc....Whats even more ironic is that most of the business generated from commercial fishing is taking place outside the state that allows it to happen. The commercial trotlining is getting so bad up here on the OH that even the local guide has started complaining to DNR. There are more hoop nets, trotlines, and gill nets in the Markland pool than I have ever seen in my life... Really frustrating and very scary at the same time. Its a shame that so many people hear alot of guys up here complaining about it, but most people dont see it. It is understandable that many just dont get it. That can be tough to do when you dont see it first hand.

Why not flood the governor of Indiana with emails and letters, doesnt cost a dime in gas. You have commercial fishermen like Dennis Sharon ,(also a Indiana conservation officer), running nets across the mouth of the Kentucky river which is illegal. And he only gets a slap on the wrist for ethics violations, time off with pay. Sounds to me the whole Indiana DNR needs to be cleaned out.
