Default Do you think the record needs investigated ?

The current World Record Channel Catfish, as recognized by the International Game Fish Association, is a 58 Lb. specimen caught on Lake Marion, SC by W.B. Whaley, in 1964

There has been alot of hype over the record . Some think its a blue and they made a mistake . I have even read were a guy believes it was a large bullhead .

Do you think they will investigate this record a little closer ? If so do you think that they will make a change to this record ?

Finding a Channel Cat over 58 pounds to bust this record is like finding bigfoot .

I believe that the record will be very hard to beat , but not impossible . Here in Illinois our current state record Channel Catfish caught by Todd Baumeyer on 2/7/87 at Baldwin Lake is 45 lb. 4 oz. So that 60 pounder could very well be in there .

I personally have no doubt that the record is of a Channel Cat . I would like to think that the officals who recorded the fish knew what they was doing .

Anyway I plan on busting both records this year

With the million dollar bounty on the Channel Cat world record and 100,000 on the state set by Mustad it will make it all the sweeter when I do ......

I am personnel friends with BigFoot. He saved my life once. Once an a while I see him at the place I fish.

Can’t go into many details about it. Might give away his location. Folks are still trying to hunt him down for a trophy.

    Leave the current record alone.

Good luck on breaking it this year. Don’t forget, keep the right phone numbers with you for when you catch it.

I'd have to see a photo before I could make a comment. In 1964 when that 58 pounder was caught I would have been 11 years old and can remember there were some pretty good cameras around at the time. Believe it or not, the TN state channel cat was caught on a cricket. 41 pounds from Fall Creek Lake. Goes to show you don't have to use huge baits for big fish. I hope you bust the record, Floyd, that's some good reward bootie at stake.

I don't see any reason to investigate at this late stage.

Funny, someone mentioned the Illinois record fish from Baldwin Lake. Another body of water with channels and blues, and I've heard the Illinois record channel is actually a blue cat. Controversy wherever you go, I guess.

Now, the world record flathead... that's a whole other fish story of a different color. Or, was that odor. I can't wait for someone to eclipse that one!!!
