Went out with my two buddy's who never went catfishing before, My buddy asked me what it's like and I replied to him, "You're in for a treat."

    went out from 8-12.

Around 11:20ish, we had 4 missed runs including a very nice strong one. I was demoralized. I didn't want to take my friends out and get skunked on their first trip; so we just laid back enjoying the full moon and talking about what we're doing for Easter. Around 11:45 my Abu Black Cat reel started clicking, which had also been the reel that I missed the strong run on. I let him run for a moment then set the hook hard. He was pulling out line at a vigorous pace thinking it was a big channel death roll. I told my friend to keep an eye on the bank to see if he's near and that was followed by a big old flathead tail whip. I then banked the fish on the bank, still unaware of what I may have hooked into. When I gotta closer I saw a big old head that resembled my 31# back in August, I grabbed the jaw and threw him on the scale...

It was my new PB of 34 pounds!

I was dumbfounded I was able to find him, in these low water and water temperature conditions; but sure as Hell not complaining.

My friends couldn't believe the size of the big flathead, So I took a few pics of them holding him.

After all the glory shots I revived him threw a bait fish in his mouth and he took off.

My Holy Saturday was well spent.

Nice Job! 34lbs is awesome and so is the feeling of beating your pb.

Congrats on fighting through the full moon, cold/windy night, and shallow-azz water.

I've fished literally every night for a week and have 2 runs and 2 fish to show for it. I've had at least 2 trout every time out and my only bites have come on that. Back at it tonight but trying radical new measures. I can sense the 40 is close. Its actually become a lot of fun fishing when I am NOT getting bites. Makes every one that much more important and exciting.

I think the wife and I are headed out for our first flathead adventure this weekend. From what people are saying on here, they are biting. I'm just wondering if I can catch sunnies for bait. Will post pictures and a report, that is if there's anything to picture. Gotta get the poles, reels and gear in order -- I see a shopping spree coming.
