I know they're there...my buddy caught a 5# right beside me. Thanks for the encouragement though. First time there but by no means my last! Thinking of trying by the parking lot next time.
I very much appreciate all of this advice
Hey, I've been lurking on the site ever since my GF, my brother and I got hooked on catfish this past September. The GF can't take the chill but my brother and I still head out every weekend to Brunner until we get kicked out. We're still learning and we love that we can catch fish while we watch everyone cast and cast for hours with no luck. We're on the west shore and have only fished the Susky. the "new year's resolution" is a 20lber, hoping sooner rather than later.
we've just used chicken liver, hoping to use cutbait/bluegills when we can catch em. would it be worth it to buy them this time of year if a bait shop has any or just wait till a spring or ice fishing day to stock up?
rigging question: we just throw a slip sinker/swivel/eagle claw on...we've had tons of luck but are we morons? are we doing it wrong?
channel question: we've never been "skunked" at brunner (got 4 tonite), but we've never caught anything more than 5 lbs, more like 1-3lbs. where as above the dock street damn near the 'burg we were catching what i would guess are 5+lbs, but you tell me via the pictures. we didn't have a scale. are they usually smaller down there? is it colder weather or my fishing rig/novice technique?
by the way, thanks for all the tips everyone's been leaving. as i said, we've had great luck and that's why we're so addicted.

welcome aboard Justin. nice to see new folks on the site. not from your side of the state so i can't help ya out on the waters you fish. but for the gills you aren't going to find a bait shop selling gills so just go ahead and catch them. fresh is best but frozen will work too. your rig sounds good. you'll learn alot from the folks here and cut the learning curve in half. those are some nice channels in the pics.
the channels are all larger above the york haven dam........rig sounds fine, it works right?
Hoping this snow melt will bring the river up slowly so I can get some good action this weekend at brunner.
Welcome Justin,
I also fish Brunner. I use liver, shrimp, nightcrawlers. There is a bait shop in York Haven that was carrying bluegills last time I was there. (couple of months). It's the shop in the middle of town, gravel parking lot, bunch of steps to get to it. Don't know what they were asking for them. They seemed rather small to me. Haven't fished Dock st.yet. I always thought below the dam would be the place.

i believe thier gills are over 2$ a piece which is not near worth it..........
