Well I guess i'm going to head that way in the morning. I have never fished that part of the river. How deep is it in that area. I figered I would fish between maple and cow pen and maby go down to the plant. Any tips that might save some time would be great.

On average, maple cypress is shallow with a couple holes. I dont know the water level down that way right now, but since it rained, it might have picked up a foot or two. It all depends on the time of year and rain fall.

I was at the ramp near the powerplant in Goldsboro today. River looked mighty shallow. Slow moving water. Hopefully I'll be hitting the Neuse hard in 2 weeks while I'm on spring break.

The Neuse up my way is full of SKUNKS right now!!!!! Can't wait for the water to warm up and stabilize a bit.

shad are being caught in kinston, in the contentnea, and maple cypress area. All reports are heresay though.

I am a marine who has been catfishing reguraly for 6-8 years now. I started in missouri where it was catfish heaven on the missouri river with plenty of spots to fish off of the bank. Now in NC i have been able to go out at cowpen and the middle school fairly often i jaust havnt been able to land them and im needing some help. Im going through withdrawls... I have no boat anyone have any suggestions on different spots? I wil prolly need some dirctions too! Any help would be great!

The bite is picking up around Clayton. Caught a 4lb - 5lb channel tonight and lost a much bigger one, probably my pb.


LOL!!!! I have been hearing others catching in the past week or so as well.
