No native blues in NJ waters but the Delaware river has big channels all over cut eel is the best for the bigger channels.

Hey Aaron, I didn't realize that this post was from November of last year... Damn these boards are dead. Where on the Delaware do you fish? I mainly fish by the gap.

I haven't been out yet this year but I normally cruise anywhere from the Burlington Bristol bridge in Burlington down to about the Walt Whitman across from Philly. I would catch channels anywhere from 2-15 lbs on a regular especially near the Betsy Ross bridge in Pennsauken. I would just use night crawlers on my bait pole to catch a few eels then chunk them up and fish all night. I fish overnight and hardly ever get skunked using the eels.

Yeah I live by the Gap, I pull a lot of overnighters. lol I fish from shore or from my yak. I have never tried cut eels but what i use all the time is cut shad. During the shad run i keep about 3 or 4 shad and use them for bait. They work real well for me. As you can tell from my profile pic my son loves to catch them as well. I love to catch the shad on the fly rod. If you ever want to venture up to my neck of the woods let me know, i got some good holes for cats and shad.
