ya i sat down last wek and sewed 6 foot of velcro on my tent lol. my zipper started the dredded seperating last year at catstock. we went camping last week and it wouldnt stay closed. its not that old and i wanted to get a few more seasons out of it so i sewed velcro on the flaps. the bottom of it closes but the top wouldnt stay.
just picked up a small army green 2 man triangle tent at the thrift store last week too. be a good one for the kids and or storage for poles and stuff. its like new and was $3. also got a mummy style sleeping bag with pillow built in for $3.49. good shape. and an old like new army style greyish green WOOL blanket thats great for camping. queen sizedish for $4.99. pretty cool haul.
mark your gonna have some company down the kaskaskia this year looks like. the CATillac will be on your tail. PB time for me.
we took the boat out this week a couple times to work out some issues. all going now. i hope i can get the rear floor re done by aug too. tore up a mess on our first serious trip last night. 32 lbs of channels for the table. i might be bringing fish to fry this time instead of pulled pork lol

Not sure if we can make it our not, But about 85% sure we can make it for a day or 2. What would be the chance of getting a camping spot if we wait until a closer time to get one? Veet's I'm also one of those that don't do well with heat. Heart meds screwed that up for me, Also if our Truck camper sells soon. We should have the 5th wheel in by then easy, but if its late may or June before it sells. We may just have to get a hotel room and camp out of it.
Would love to make this one, But sure wish someone could order cooler weather. I do better these days with under 70 degree temps..
But even with hot temps, will sure try to make it to see old friends. Along with new ones..
Also if you can you need to follow Veets down to Chattanooga Tn the end of this month for that gathering. Plus will be cooking the best Catfish and Hush Puppy's around.
Also if we drive up, I can bring my fish cooker if its needed. It will cook for 75 Per hour.

Hey Pete would love to see you there. Air conditioning can make up for some of the heat problems. I too have heart issues but with my new camper I can run in and cool off if it starts to get to me.
There is a hotel very near where we camp if needed. Don't know the rates though. The town of Carlyle has everything you might need if you forget something. Groceries, WalMart, restaurants etc. The campground is huge and any site would be good. The sites listed would just keep everyone in walking distance of one another. You should be able to get one of the sites even if you wait until later but even if they are all taken, there are tons of other sites close by.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and new ones. Hoping the weather will be moderate enough to make it comfortable for everyone.

ya slimy seems theres always somebody or looks like a few this year that are right out of the window. shoot. heck jump off on the third and swim to shore well pick you up.

theres always a few sites open on that loop come time. they are usually up around 1 and 15 but thats oly a few hunderd feet from the rest. shouldnt be a problem.
veets. thanks for reminding me. to all coming. i found out just last year. that carlyle is only a few miles out. i mean like 4-5. and right on the outside coming from the camground is a dollar general and wal-mart market center. theres aslo an iga i little farther. and a big bait and archery shop. so for those traveling a good distance you dont have to pack food.
i will now bring empty coolers with me and be able to put other small supplies in them for the drive down saving alot of room. no more ice rustling around on the way. i will go buy bread, eggs, milk, plastic forks , paper plates ect right in town after i get there. last year i lost MY bag off the roof. clothes and alot of kitchenware. so i went to town to get clothes and found out these stores were a stone throw away.
this season i have a plan for the travel cash. we save cans. i usually get about $100 to $150 on april 22nd earthday recycling. this year were saving it all for gas ect... should about cover my total trip. the kids like to go to the pool. but at $4 each it was costly last year. thanks to a storm though they swam on fri for 30 min and had to get out cause of lightning. they got a free pass for sat so we didnt have to pay and they got to swim both days for the cost of one. then on sunday we went south to fish the spillway and found the public beach. prob take them there too this year. the can money will make all that go away.
oh and i forgot. i had to buy food last year cause the coons broke into my coolers and ate 2 lbs of hash brown patties, 3 lbs of sausage, bacon ends 2 lbs and 2 sticks of butter. that lil pup tent might make a good cooler vault.

If you go past that IGA up to the stop light there is a Super V that is bigger then IGA and has alot more deals on meat , drinks , etc. But will be hard to beat Walmart prices , and you can get damn near everything there so it would be only one stop .
Jeremy when you go into Carlyle past Henkels Hook & Arrow , and IGA , come to the stop light and hang a left going east , it will bring you through down town and across the river below the spillway . There is a swinging bridge there and alot of area to fish . We catch some big boys out of that area .
Also about a mile past the bridge is South Shore campgrounds that also has a nice beach and swimming area . You dnt have to be camping there to swim or hang out at the beach . We usually go there when wanting to hit the beach , it is less crowded and has alot less idiots .

well almost got the boat totally restored. all the way to the foam under floor to new floor and re making all the wood backed padded covers and stuff too. a couple more days she'll look like a new one on the inside. new tires on trailer new carb and new coil coming in the mail. it was far easier than i expected in tearing old one out. so im gonna man up and catch some fish to fry up. so put me down for 7-8 lbs of fish and slaw. i assume we will have a dinner. lmao. it wouldnt be catstock without it,lol. ill have the frier and breading too.
so looks like ill have the catillac with me this trip. taking 37 bags of cans in to recycle tomorrow. earth week. they are paying $.10 more this week. they be $.65 a lb. all the cash is going back for the trip to catstock (GAS, FOOD, SWIMMING POOL FEES, ICE, ECT...). should be about $100. hopefully i wont have to replace any tires, leaf springs,or clothing this trip.
we always save them from earth week to the next. tried to take them in today. 40 mph winds wasnt going to let me lol. made it 100 foot out of town and they started going out. 3 straps and a tarp over them too lol. 60 mph into 40 wind =100 mph. try again tomorrow.
so now i got to plan for big bait to see if i cant catch one of them big ol blues now. thats one we dont have around my parts. at least the main lake i fish. so i want to catch a blue.
