finally out on the water and loving it

well this past fall and spring weve been working on a huge 4 story multy building student living center and ot and 6 hr days for a spell. and ive been using spare time to build my taxidermy shop so i hadnt been fishing at all this spring.

thursday i got laid off as the building was done. bad news is other than that work is slow right now. good news is i left for the illinois gathering that day and got to fish. and when i got home since the boat needs some tlc before it goes out i have been fishing a small 50 acre state park lake here. only have a small dusk window to fish cause if you aint camping you have to leave at 10pm. so i go round 6-7. been out there few times this week.

the channels there are light bitters. you pretty much have to hold your pole after a hit and wait for a tug. and hook em. last night they were hitting pretty frequently.l only landed two and had numerous bare hooks. boogers were getting bluegill heads off the hook that were hookd through eye. thats not often i have that happen. fiddlers have tore up my magic bait but bigones seem to preffer the cut gills.

my 4 year old hepled clean these two last night at midnight. i had to tell him to stop hitting the green male in the head with hammer while i cleaned the darker female. i knocked it silly and began filleting other and he kept saying "dad its still breathing" konk. konk. "dad its still breathing" konk konk. ok joesef. thats enough. but its still breating. konk. i had to explain reflex to him. he claimes hes gonna try it this week when i fry it up. ill believe it when i see it. but at least he said he will try it. thats a start. he has been fishing with me 4-5 times this past week. he likes to go. but is ready do move on after an hour. hes caught i bet 20 bluegills by himself since the gathering.

now. boat time. needing a new floor in rear. re done front deck a couple years back. now its time for rear. probably go a few times first. its just weak in spots not broke lol.
