    Default circle and a float

Circle hooks can work with a float but heed huskercats advice and use a big float.Too small of a float and light gear wont give the resistance needed for the circle to do its job and you will lose alot of fish . I have had this happen while fishing for pond cats at a friends house 50% hook rate until i changed to a large float.

I fish big slip floats a lot and 3/0 Circle hooks perform great. Just real up till u feel the fish and give it a swift, smooth hook-set. Ive only missed one fish with this setup (besides the ones that broke off).

Circle hooks is my preference because I catch more fish with them, but I think the key is knowing how the hook performs and using it accordingly.

since i went to 100% circles for catfish ive had 0 swollowed hooks and about a 99% hookup rate vrs the miss every other 5-6th fish with j. i love them. i can always see the hook as soon as i lay the fish down. they pop right out and go back to fishing. no digging for it down the gullet.

i rarley have a fish lost after hookup but it does happen. nothings perfect. but it happens way less now. and if im taking a leak the fish has already hooked himself for me when i get back. i use them on slip floats as well. its up to each persons prefference. all we can do is offer our stories.
