Believe it was from the mastercraft that came rumbling by!!! And that's what I was looking for, if it was normal to have to trim up some!! And the only other thing I noticed was that while sitting still it had a tendency to get really wavy readings, guess were the transducer was bobbing up and down. Is this somewhat normal also??

You talking wavy on 2d or SI? It can happen on 2d if the water is a little rough. The bottom reading will get wavy. Not sure I have seen any wavy type images on SI. Usually if the water is rough and you are sitting still, the SI image will tend to have dark spots out towards the edges. This is from the boat rocking and the SI beam shooting up out of the water. You don't happen to have any screen shots of it do you?

Still working on the screen shots, my unit is freezing up if i have the "enable snapshot" set to "ON" and push the mark key?? why ?? I dont know but it will freeze whenever snapshot is enabled even when using the cursor to mark a waypoint. Looks like im gonna have to send it in. I also thought it came with preloaded HB contour maps but all i get is the white grid with my boat! im thinking there might be a setting in the chart menus to enable the contour features ,after reading a bit. I also think i need to relocate the TD it gives good readings but my hull actually has three steps in it. I will get pictures of it and post to this thread and see what yall think, if it needs to be dropped down to the lowest part of the hull.
and yes the wavy is the actual bottom structure in 2d ,sitting still (i think this is somewhat normal because the TD is bobbing up and down)

You are right, it is from the boat bobbing up and down. The rougher the water the worse it is. Not sure if HB has improved their maps, but on mine the HB map sucks. It just basically has the outline of the lake. I have the Navionics card and it is great. Haven't tried the lakemaster chips so I am not sure how well they work. What kind of SD card are you using for the snap shots? Certain SD cards are not very fast at transferring data. Have you tried a different SD card? I use a regular SanDisk 2gb card and it takes about 2 seconds for the snap shot to complete. Maybe try a different brand of SD card. Except for maybe a pause for it to write to the card, it shouldn't lock up when taking a snap shot.

Just bought the Sandisk 8gb with 45mb write speed. So I don't think that is the problem.

Go to humminbird web site and create an account. Register you serial number and it will show the latest download for your unit. Then download it and copy it to an SD then turn your unit on and pop the dusk in and follow on screen direction. TAKe a couple minutes!

I would think that card should work plenty good. Have you been on the other Humminbird SI forums? There are a couple of Humminbird employees that read the post there on thier own time and try and help people out. Maybe one of them have a suggestion before you send it in.
