Bill I have not personally fished Oahe but I understand if I'm not mistaken that they are there in large numbers and hardly no one fishes much for them,as they are after the walleye and them Nasty Bass,LOL Good Luck and A big Ol Welcome to the USCA,J.D.

I've been researching the lake through data from fisheries. It seems to have a basically untapped channel catfish population. They list the amount of fishing pressure on the channel catfish as a trace.I'm going to "explore" the population this summer.Bill

they are definiteley in there! trust me, we troll for walleyes with lindy rigs and catch quite a few of them. the whole missouri river system in your WONDERFUL state is full of them, i fish above and below big bend by ft thompson and when we target them we catch a ton of really nice channels up to 20 lbs. like the post before said NOBODY fishes for them. i dont know where swan creek is but if your close to the dam in may at big bend when the powerhouse aint running sometimes your bait wont hit bottom before you get bit.....

i should have added that really it dont matter if its may or october, you can catch a ton of cats through out the whole system. me and two buddys were up in april by lower brule and the sonar was black with what we thought were shad but were channels and caught so many of them we couldnt keep count. id say we caught 100 a peice easy in a few hours between 5 and 25 lbs.
