vegatable oil on high carbon steel hunting blades?

who uses vegatable oils on there hunting knives? now that i have a high carbon knife im using olive oil, since its going to be used on game i eat, just wondering how good its going to work...........

I tend to only buy stainless blades myself, But I think its a good choice , like you said , if used for food it needs to be edible

Use a Food Grade Mineral Oil, as that is what food service workers use.

thanks, i didn't think about it turning rancid, looks like i will be using mineral oil.
