    Default Rifle stock replacement

Seriously thinking about upgrading my savage 30/06. I have been looking at Boyds gun stocks, anyone ever use them or seen any in use?

    Daniel,

I have not seen one other than on the internet but my father-in-law says they are great and he is one serious gun freak. I have been looking to buy one with the thumb hole for my Winchester model 70 7mm mag. I just like shooting with my had turned such as with shooting AR's. I am hoping that the thumb hole will help with the feel. Again i hear they are great and worth the money.

That thumbhole stock is what I'm looking at. The price is cheap in my opinion. Planned on switching out the scope with a Redfield or Nikon 4X12X40 and getting a smoke pole and and putting the 3X9X30 on that.
This getting back to hunting and 2 8pters after 10 yrs has my blood going.

I don't know what model Savage you have, but I replaced the synthetic stock on my 16 stainless with a Boyds and it was almost a drop in and tighten deal! Very little to trim, sand. I didn't get the thumbhole just a nice classic style, much like what's on the Savage model 14 American classic. I really like the fit, finish, and function.
In dog beers, I've only had 3.

I have a Savage 110. Everything I've heard about them is good and it serves me well. I think savage made 1 of the best bolts on the market but went cheap on the stocks and scopes to keep the price down. Those Boyd FT stocks should make it look like a million dollars.

I bought one for an old 1902 wincheser bolt action, I broke the stock over 40 years ago, made a nice walnut one in HS wood shop, but it got stolen, so I went to the scrap box at the lumberyard, got a 2x4 and made a stock, screw the teacher and my grade. Last year I ordered a Boyds, but haven't actually installed it, I'm still deciding on the finish.
