There was a recall, sort of. Toyota "bought back" a bunch of the tacos from owners. I've never heard of them replacing frames?
Anyway, not a lot of tacos on the road anymore.

They had a big thing about them replacing frames on a lot of those trucks. As long as it looks good id go for it. Heck my pos 94 explorer is showing rust on the frame too. I will never buy a chevy truck. Step dad has a 99 silverado that has about 150k miles with 3 engines and 4 trans. Absolute POS!!!

I say jump on it if you have the cash, those are great trucks, I had a guy I worked with that had a 95' when the recall came out and it was one of the recalled frames, not all of them were recalled, they bought the truck back from him for 15 grand and it had 250,000 miles on it, plus they gave him a hell of a deal on a new one, which he took and ended up in a new truck for under 2 grand. Try and squeeze a deal like that out of ford,gm or any of the so called american brands, oh and yes those bad frames were built right in st. louis mo. go fiqure! anyway they are a very dependable from all the folks I know that have/had one, the four banger is a little underpowered for any heavy towing on the highway you could pull your boat no problem I think, from everything I have heard or seen they are tough and dependable, for what it is worth. I don't see those sitting on the side of the road broke down like some other makes.

I gotta disagree. You are stimulating the sellers economy, and he may choose to spend that money. In all actuality buying a used car, no matter the make, does not stimulate the economy in the context you are talking. Also, Toyotas are more american made than most american cars. Most american car makers are making cars in mexico or elsewhere now, toyota is opening more plants in america all the time. No, i've never owned a toyota, and i dont see me buying one anytime in the future..... 3 chevys at my house. Those little taco trucks are very reliable, and as long as everything checks out, sounds like a good deal, even though i'd offer him less money.
