15lb channel on jennie-o chicken hot dog.. next day 5lb channel on carolina pride chicken hotdog. I guess it pays to use the best!

besides, you can eat the bait if they don't bite!

I've fished for Channels mainly using Liver, stinkbait, and of course worms, i've heard people swear by hot dogs, and they also say the cheaper ones are the best lol! I'm gonna give it a shot this Summer.

When I use hot dogs I just cut them about half an inch thick and push them down the eye of a treble hook. You can cast hard and it willl still stay on.

Old butter bowl, 2 lbs of cut dogs about 3/4" thick with a tablespoon or better of garlic salt+eater channel almost every trip here. Rarely catch anything approaching or over 4 or 5lbs bout like dough balls but for a fishfry or some fun they work. Wifes cousin swears by the generic and Oscar Meyer cheese dogs and his results impress me. He rarely uses any additives. Half his catchs are softshell turtles though. He'll fish both rods with dogs though and rarely comes home without a nice mess of cats.

In my opinion, you can put whatever you want on them and they will likely work the same. It's the oils in the hotdog that attract the channels.
