    Default Got a used kayak

Last night I went and bought a used Cobra XL, has a round hatch between the legs, and one behind the seat. Came with a seat, paddle, and 3 rod holders. They threw in a floatation vest too, I know its old, and I'm the 3rd owner, but its in pretty good shape. Been stored inside all the time. Maybe coulda got a better deal but this should be a good starter, then see what I really want.

I'm pretty sure I won't be hauling a lot of gear for awhile, but should work good for my us e for a couple years. I been wanting for 3 years, finally did it. Price was ok, now just need to get some work done and go fishing. Hope the surf cooperates. May not get a chance for freshwater use this summer.

Congrats Tim on your purchase. As you say buying a used one and learning the particulars is good to find what is best suited for your fishing areas and go from there. I had a cobra fish and dive and really enjoyed it.

Congrats on the new kayak. Cobra makes some nice kayaks. i really like their hatches. Now get out and do some paddling. I thought I saw somewhere else that you said you were in CA right now. If you are and you have the money, some of the best kayak fishing guides in the world are in that area.

a tip on the hatches because they can be a pain to line up is paint a few arrows on the hatch and some on the rim that you latch to. use them to line it up. makes it 10 times easier to get them on faster.
