    Default chicken liver being eaten

I used chicken livers to fish the other day and tried fishing next to a couple fish feeders. The bait kept getting stolen by what appeared to be Bluegills. I could feel the many nibbles and after checking the bait it was always gone. Do many people here also have many problems with their chicken liver getting eaten before the catfish get their chance?

Bream will definitely pick off your liver if you're fishing where they are.

If you're going to fish next to the feeder and you want cats you're going to have to use something that the bream won't eat- so no liver, stinkbait, or worms.

My suggestion would be to use fish for bait. The easiest solution would be to use a small hook and snatch a couple of those bream out. Scale it, rip off a filet, and send that back out there.

Try tying your liver up in bait mesh/spawn sack. They can't swallow it, unless they have a big mouth and they nibble it off. ;)

I've found that simply using a bit heavier weight helps, gills are lazy, and don't want to chase a fast moving bait STRAIGHT DOWN,they seem to give up most times, its the slow falling baits that they will follow to the bottom and stay with most times. at least the smaller ones. For instance when I am targeting eater bluegills with worms,I usually use a 3/8 or 1/2 oz weight under a bobber to get the bait down quickly to where the bigger fish are ,the lil guys dont seem to chase it ,and the bigger ones get to.

That there will do the trick plus some nylon thread wrap it around the sac of liver about 4 times and its not going any where.
