    Not very often

If I did there would be a lot of a-holes with even bigger holes in their boats or jetskis .....

I did embed a 8 oz pyramid in the hull of a jetski who thought it was funny shooting a rooster tail into my boat .... I'd of reeled'em in but he broke the line (That's what I get for using a breakaway sinker rig) ....

Default do you carry a gun fishing?

... and you thought you knew some guys lol! This was was the best thread I have read in a while. Took me over an hour but better then a womans soap opera. Gun toating tards lookin for trouble, fighting between brothers and good witticisms. Oh that was priceless.

I'm not saying all you gun carriers are tards maybe 1/2....... joke :) I bet a good percentage of yall would try to pull it out talk some smack, have it taken from ya an get your ass whooped in. Some people should have been screened a little better. :) And whats all of this needing a gun on the boat for? Are there pirates among us??? ARGHHHHH....

I don't fish with a gun yet but I have been thinking about it a lot lately. Its not people I'm worried about or piracy on the open seas :) . Its bank fishing out in the woods by myself a.k.a. being part of the food chain.

And if your dealing with hobos, crack heads, meth freaks, general criminals. Use your GD head and go find a new spot. No spot can be that good that I would put up with any of that shit.

My .45 Goes From My Nightstand To My Car And Then Back To My Nightstand. In The 20 Or So Years That I Have Carried A Gun, I Have Pulled It Out 3 Or 4 Times, Set It On My Tailgate And Covered It With A Towel. In Those Cases It Turned Out To Be Nothing, But When It's 12am-5am And You Are By Yourself, It Gives You Some Serious Peace Of Mind.

I've got more important things to do with my time than worry about getting shot when I'm fishing. I'll gladly give them whatever they want and let them be on their way. I'd rather walk 4hrs home than be a dead guy.

And unless you've been in the military or in the police force (even then it's a rarity) you've never been in a gun fight so talk about "I'd do this or that" is completely irrelevant.
Being both a military vet and a former law enforcment officer I will throw my hat into the mix. No, I don't carry one. Yes, I think everyone should. Why the difference? Simple, my temper and my mouth when I am angry will only get me into trouble if I have a gun. When I am not armed my head stays cooler and I don't get "hero syndrome". I usually have my son and my best friend with me and I don't want to endanger them. Now, as for self defense? I have knives, paddles, fishing poles, fists, feet, teeth, pliers, anchors, lead weights, and anything else I can swing, throw, strike with. I don't know KARATE but I do know CRAZY.
My best defense is just playing it cool and keepin a low profile. I am always polite and always watching. When things don't feel right I dee dee mauw. And I avoid people if I can. People are STUPID. An individual is reasonable and somewhat intelligent. People get dumb quick.

I carry everytime I fish at night. doesnt matter if I am in the boat or on shore. the one spot I fish has a pretty shady neighborhood and a bar right up the street. everytime I come in off the river at night I check around throughly with the flashlight and while backing the truck up in the water I keep checking. not being paranoid or scared. just being aware of my surroundings. I dont have a problem with the dark either. I hunt predators at night so I am used to critters coming to me in the night while calling so the occasional raccoon or mink I see on the river while bank fishing gets observed and most of the times I mess with em by lip squeekin em in closer but other then that they pass by no problem. but then again it isnt the four legged critters that I am worried about it is the two legged ones.
