Amen Clayton. I have a gun I can reach from my shower. I have carried for 40 years. I have never shot anyone but in the right situation I will. I shot at a burgular once 30 or so years ago. I missed but have never been bothered again. I retired from the prison and know what people are capable of and the only way to stop them is defend yourself. If you send them to jail they may be back in your house before you can do the necessary paper work and get back home yourself. Bob can reason with them while they go up his ------- if he wants. I will shoot because I know there is no reasoning.

hand guns are for killing people

No, a hand gun is a means of getting to a real gun (quote borrowed from Sons of Guns). Hopefully I'll never have to use my handgun, but should it be needed, I'd much rather have it than not. That said, luckily I fish an area where I don't need it, but have carried a shotgun, small rifle, or pellet gun with me for snakes on many occasions. Have one copperhead try to climb in the boat with you or come up the bank between your feet and you'll understand why.

I have found that 100% of the time, snakes try to avoid humans. Not once have I needed to shoot one.

Anyone carry one of the pocket glocks? What model #? I was thinking of trading my CZ in for one. It'd make summer time carry easier for me then my 75 compact (not really that compact).

for the record, I voted yes, i have a gun in the boat, its usually a .22 s&w model 22a with a red dot scope. not a people killing gun, just a gun. I get bored when the fish aint biting and if I'm safe, legal place, I'll set a can on the bank and have some fun. I been known give up on fishing if I see a squirrel along the bank of the river. I'll beach the boat and go hunting! I also carry a springfield sub comp xd.40 some times, but I don,t usually feel the need to carry when I'm fishing unless I'm on the river alone at night or around a rough area.

No offense to law enforcement but in most crimes committed, there just there to play clean up. When it hits the fan, Its best to be prepared.

I always carry. Never depend on the police. Even if they get there and arrest someone a judge will release him the next day and if you did,nt defend yourself he will head right back to your house.
I think of when I had my third heart attack no doubt it was the third. My wife called 911. There was only one ambulance availiable and a guy on the other side of the county called the same time my wife did and told them he was going to commit suicide. The dispatcher sent the ambulance to Him and when my daughter arrived from 30 miles away she took me to the Hospital. The Ambulance attendant came to the hospital the next day to appologize to me.
