Thread: Personal Best Channel Catfish

Just started fishing specifically for catfish this year.
Don't have enough money for a good rod & reel setup so I have just been using bank poles and short trotlines I make up. Don't have a registered or running boat either, so it is all from the bank or waist deep water.
PB 13.5lb on shrimp
11.8lb on shrimp
10.8,10.1 on cicadas Or cicadas alternated with earthworms.
Caught a 10.1 lb last night on 4 inch green sunfish. Also caught a 3 lb buffalo on live sunfish, figure that one out.

PB Channel right now is a tad over 20lbs. If all goes well, I should break that mark this weekend at our tournament at Calamus Res.

A 29", 12.8 pounder caught last week.
I'd like to become a member in the "30 inches or more" club or even in the "20 pounds or more" club.

My PB channel is 34 1/2 lbs from a little 30 acre lake. I was fishing a live green sunfish for flatheads when she hit. No blues in the lake so no question it was a channel. Got a 22lb channel on 4lb test crappie fishing this winter, took almost an hour and some fancy footwork to get her in the boat!

Sorry to double post but I can't figure out how to edit my post and I thought I'd put a link to a pic of the 22lber at least. The picture I have of my PB was 35mm, not real sure how I can get that on here.
