    Default Trolling motor power loss

I have 2007 minn kota 55sc maxxum bow mounted trolling motor and it isnt as powerful as it used to be. Does any one have ideas what would cause this? I would say it is running about 70% power of what it use to be.

If you haven't yet, pull the prop off and check to see if any fishing line or other crap has gotten wrapped around the shaft.

If that's an infinitely variable speed setup then the pulse width modulator or output MOSFETS may be going bad. It's not the easiest thing for a layman to check, in fact you really need an o-scope to look at the output waveform to check voltage and duty cycle and go from there.

I doubt you'll find a dealer with the equipment or savvy to check/fix it, you probably should contact Minnkota.

No, it doesn't have the variable speed it just has the 5 speeds. I dont know what to think don't have the money for a new one. Heck I think I paid around 700 bucks for that one!!!
