Jug Hooks?

Hey Guys,
Im going to make up a bunch of flaging jugs and was wondering what kind of hooks you guys use???
Circle Hooks, J Hooks, Trebble Hooks, Sickle Hooks, Octopus hooks??? Im leaning tword the Circle but thought I would ask you guys...

This will be my first time making up jugs so im still learning, I figure I can use them as a learning tool to learn where the fish are in a local lake that im trying to figure out, also im going to be using the large pool noodles, How long do they need to be " the float part "?? Im figuring 12" will that be enough?

the hooks i use are are off set circles.i've had people tell me they are octupus hooks,but they say circle,so.
as far as the length,i can't help there john.i always used 2 liter drink bottles and clorox bottles and such.i have'nt did any jugging in years,mainly because i rarely fish lakes or ponds anymore.

Hopeing to use them, to scout the diferent areas of Carters Lake. I know there are good flathead in there, but dont think anyone fishes seriously for them..

I use the pool noodles. I make 3 out of each noodle ( about 20" I think) I got the kits from Pete at Wild Wolf. I anchor my jugs. Most of the time I fish in the lake so I like for my jugs to stay where I put them. I have had up to 40lb fish on them and they can't hold them do to long. IMO the pool noodles and kits for Pete are the only way to go. Easy to use and easy to store. I set mine and back off and set my rods out.

Hardly jug fish anymore but i always used SS trotline hooks in 6#. They catch fish but i hear also the circles catch better.

I made a bunch of jugs with an assortment of kahles, circles, and J hooks.
The offset circles had the best hookup ratio so I mostly use those now.

I played around with circles on my jugs last year, and they seem to do better than the J hooks i was using. Circle hooks are made to hook the fish without a hookset, just pressure, or at least that's what i was told.....

After trying several different styles we have settled on offset circles and never looked back. Hook ups went up over all contenders so we use them exclusively and have been very pleased with them. We do quite a bit of jug fishing during the warmer months on the flats off of the rivers with pretty good results. Good luck with yours.

I use offset circle hooks on trot lines, banjo(limb) lines, and definitely all of my jugs. My hook up rate is always higher and if you ever want to release a big one, this is where the circle hook really shines.
