They are a VERY oily fish, you can get the oil through many salt water fishing stores. I thought Bass Pro sold it but not positive on that.

Most trapping supply catalogs carry it, place in Anna Illinois does too. I dont know if I should post the business might be better in a PM? Its literaly menhaden fish oil, two ways I know of they retrieve the oil, pressed and fermenting(same way trappers make fish oil). Any fish will have oil, some work better then others and fatty/rough fish usualy have more. Fish oil is good in formulation for catfish etc and of course an excellent trapping bait menhadens a little stronger then most. You can dip bread, unbaked biscuit dough, cheese, sponge or just about anything into it for catfish. Some commercial cat baits have it. Our carp dough base mixed with fish oil works too. If your cutbait/shad or sours get a little too dry fish oil will "reconstitute" them.

Keith from http://www.fishonbait.com/ was an old sponsor on the USCA and they sale bulk oil like you are looking for.
There are several products on the market that use this oil as the basis for catfish attractants.
Some are pretty much Menhaden fish oil, some other ingredients, then some old fashioned marketing.
I did a pretty long e-mail and a video last year about this oil, its uses, and a failed product I was going to bring to market,"ultimately failed under real world testing"..
I was pretty shocked at the results.

i think i'd like to have some just to dip my cut bait into. i found a place to buy it online, but the shipping was crazy high. More than the product itself...anyone know where to get it? I checked walmart, they dont 'have it. and couldn't find it on bass pro, but that definately doesn't mean they don't have it.

Catfish Connection sells the White Marsh Bait Co. brand. Be warned, if you get this on your clothes or hands, you will wear the smell for a while. It's pretty dern good to add to any homemade bait or use as a dip for variuos other baits.
In dog beers, I've only had 3.

Be better off injecting it into your bait. Keep it a little cold in the cooler so it stays a little thicker.i think i'd like to have some just to dip my cut bait into.

Mix it half and half with glycerine and it'll thicken and be preserved. Catfish Connection was in Pana or Anna? Theyve got a website also.

I'm not aware it needs to be preserved.
OP buy a bottle of shellfish oil. It comes in small bottles.
