Voodoo, Backwoods Magic, Home Remedies
A fellow BOCer (katfish Ken) and i were talking this evening/afternoon about home remedies that have been passed down over the years. However over the years it seems like many of them are getting to be forgotten. so out of intrest, what are some of your backwoods, voodoo, home remedies that may help cure sickness, depression, illness, etc that have been passed down to you over the years.
I'll go first. My grand parents used to say that if you got burned while cooking to put butter or lard on it.

Oil of cloves, for a toothache, applied to the affected tooth.
put hot water in a bottle and then put the mouth of the jug over a boil to draw out the puss,
put baking soda in your shoes for athletes foot
put bacon on a puncture wound like stepping on a nail to draw out the germs,
tea with honey and whiskeyand lemon for a cold,
blackberry brandy for colds and flue, get in bed, cover with lots of blankets
graveyard stew for upset stomach
ginger for seasickness
hot water for pimples
steam for plugged up nose and chest
have to remember some others
tobacco spit on a bee sting. and it works cause i had to try it out. lol
what is graveyard stew???

Kerosene for cuts.

I know alot of them but would have to think of them all so I will start with one I know works , anyway it seemed to work.....lol
I was bit by a Water Moccasin in 93 and asd the wife was driving me to the hospital I remembered someone saying hold cigarette tobacco on the holes to draw the venom . I did it and there was some kind of fluid soaking the tobacco and I survived ......lol
Tea bags will help to stop bleeding it causes the blood to clot .
Jack Daniels , honey , tea , and lemon juice will help a common cold .

Bee stings for arthritus. My grandad used to catch a bee behind the wings and stick it to his arm.
