Hills
I recently bought hills rod holders just as my friend did. We both love them and more than satisfied with the shipping and product. I had the monsters and did not like them near as much as the hills. It seemed the rod flopped around to much when I got a bite but some of my friends love the monsters. I think it's all just a personal preference.

I didn't vote because when I put my Duo Pro's on my boat, I didn't know that Monster's existed.... my momma said they didn't... oops wrong kind of monster....
Anyhow, I would like some technical advice.
I didn't know that Driftmaster had a right and a left so all mine are one sided which makes for a small issue when snagged or a large fish. I also have I belie the 3/8" instead of the 1/2 ".
That said, I don't have problems getting the rod out of the rod holder. Perhaps because I leave a handful of butt below the back of the rod holder to grab and push down while pulling up the front.
I haven't caught the largest fish in the world, but the 72lb Blue came off of those Duo Pro's and I had no real problem getting the rod out.
In my opinion if you have trouble getting the rod out of any holder then your drag is set too tight.
The duo pro is a very snug fit for a couple of my rods.
I have strongly considered the Monster Rod holder for my boat for a couple simple reasons. I like their look, I like the size for varying sizes of rods, but mostly because I think I read somewhere that they have an infinite direction setting, in other words they lock into place well and I don't have to mess with a wing nut to fix the direction I want the rod holder to point. Is this true?
The other two reasons are, 1 Steve is a sponsor and a genuinely good person, not a faceless corporation, and 2, I bought an Akwa Lung and like it, and the ability to talk to Steve one on one via Cell phone.

I bought monsters from the start, but now am considering buyins some driftmasters as well. While I love the monsters at 33 deg for anchor fishing, I do NOT like the 0 degree setting for drift fishing. They are built backwards of the Driftmaster Duo's in the way the handle goes in. Using the Monsters at zero degrees, I have to pull to rod all the way out of the front of the rod holder. The Duo's don't require pulling the rod all the way out like this. I would really like to support Steve with my next purchase, but not with the 0/33's like I currently have. Steve, PLEASE make a plain jane zero degree holder just for drifting!
