Curing shad?
I saw an article on striper fishing and curing shad . In the article stated that you take a ice chest with drain open the drain and pour the bottom of chest with salt then a layer shad salt, shad, salt let them set for 24hrs. then rinse off the salt and freeze them . Any one ever try this for catfish? Thanks

Never tried it with shad, but I did with skipjack. Not only will it preserve the skippies, but will produce oil that is extremely smelly and sticky. You can't wash it off your hands without using a grease-cutting detergent like Dawn. Bait with a chunk of that preserved skipjack, and when it hits the water, you get an oil slick 10' in all directions.

Thanks Jerry for your note on curing bait.
