Default What do you use for bait bags "mesh" for livers.

When I fish with chicken livers I usually wrap some string around them to keep them on the hook better. I was wanting to try using some type of "Liver bag" are as some call it "bait mesh" next time out. Anybody use them? Do you think panty hose would work?

I know this is a stupid question, but where do you get cheese cloth?

Welcome ,Mike. If you buy FRESH livers and KEEP them COLD They will stay firmer,I dont use anything but I do use spinning gear when I fish with liver. I never have a problem slinging it off,I think most of you guys are trying to sling your bait to the middle of the lake. Try a short lob of around 20 -30 FT .

The lake I fish, I only fish about 20 feet off the bank. It's the river that you need toget it out there from the bank.

You can go into any Wal-Mart that has a fabrics section and buy the mesh. It,s real soft, almost like pantyhose. It comes by the yard, take it home and cut it into squares. It,s cheap and comes in several different colors.$10 bucks worth will last you a very long time.If there,s not a Wal-Mart near you(like thats possible),you can go into any fabric store and get the same thing.

I have to agree with 223reload, Try fresh, keep it cold and use a sharp knife to cut it. Works wonders.

Whatever those veils that woman wear on their wedding day work great. They have pretty big holes for fabric but can keep the livers in. You can buy it in most fabric stores or wal-mart fabric section. They may look at you weird when you come in and ask for some of that stuff woman wear on their wedding day, or at least they looked at me weird.
