my rod holder design

Rate this Entry
There seems to be a fair amount of interest by bank fishermen in rod holders. Here's my design. It uses heavy gauge aluminum and incorporates rod holders designed for boats. It is designed for use with circle hooks, (don't set the hook when you get a bite, reel first.) It also doubles as a rod carrier to help you get your rods from your vehicle to where your fishing, note the shoulder strap. The only drawback to this design it shakes the other rods in the holder somewhat when you get a hard bite. I've never had the rodholder pulled over by a fish.

Nice work. Fun stuff, isn't it? It may never have been pulled over, but some of the banks I fish are pretty rocky, and the two prongs would not go in far enough to keep from tipping. I think two telescoping thin rods that swing out and pivot forward (the direction of the poles) at a 45 degree angle would make it even more adaptable. Just an idea.
