Let me give a little more information on my Friday morning fishing trip... I was trying to catch some bluegill off my dock which is just up river from Jim Dieveney's dock. (Jim is tied with Carl for the State of Georgia Flathead catfish record ) I had been fishing for about an hour with no luck. I could plainly see Jim on his dock catching one gill after another. He asked me if I was catching any and I told him no, that I hadn't been able to fish due to no bait. Jim gave me a plastic container about 1/4 full of black soldier fly maggots. In no time I had seven bluegill in the bait well. I was amazed at the difference the maggots made over worms. I used the maggots for bait from Friday morning till Monday afternoon and continued to catch all the bluegill I needed for bait. if you have never tried them I would highly recommend you learning a little more about black soldier fly larva.
