Rate this Entry
Driff fishing in about 20 to 60 ' of water , most of the time prech is what we have been using shad when we can find them, have been trying some diffrent ways , would like to know how you hook them, tail , lips ?? Fishing for big blue and flates , what kind of bait boxs have you made to keep bait alive in. Have about a 2 hour drive to the lake , most of the time bait has been hard to get this year so we have been getting out of farm ponds before going to the lake , have a hard time keeping it alive. Any help would be great and keep them rods bending !!

When I'm fishing that type of water, I hook the bait in the back that is if there,s not a lot of current. If there,s current I hook them through the top of the mouth and out the nose. And its through the lip most of the time for me.

Sounds like you need to fix up a big cooler and add a air pump to it to keep the bream alive for the trip and fishing time. There,s a good writeup on the board about that. It shows how to built a bait tank and will help you out a lot.

Also when fishing water like your talking about keep an eye out for fish that,s up in the water and not near the bottom. As your better Blue cats may only be sitting in 20ft of water over 40 to 60 ft. That,s when I use a float to keep my bait in the depth of water I need it in.
Best of luck and don't over look cutting that bait some or knocking off a some scales. Get that live bait where the fish can smell it better and know its hurt and a easy meal.
