Anyone here ever used the Eagle Claw Cat Claw surf rods ? I don't mean the weekend warriors that think a 9ft rod is huge I mean ppl that use surf rods 10ft and over . I fish heavy current . And I mean heavy . Current that your throwing 16oz and if you use a break off line lighter than 30 lbs the current will snap it when your weight hangs in the rocks (the general idea) . For that we use the 12-15ft rods . Okumas , the cheaper penns and diawas are useless usually if you hit something bigger than 30 . My uncle swears by 13ft Water Eagles but I seen him break one on a 45lb blue . Th funny part is he caught the same fish on my 12ft CAT CLAW . Now its a heavy power rod but fast action . You can feel a minnow fart from 100yds . Tons of backbone even though its usually almost double in the current so I don't use it . But unfortunately it was discontinued . Now what I wanna know is does a 13ft Cat Claw exist ? That would have that backbone but not sway in thae current as much . I could only hope . It and my custom rod are the only 2 rods I've had more then 3 years and haven't broke . I've tried all kinds of cheapies and broke them . The local tackle shop gives 1 year in store warranties and they hate me for all the returns . Like I shredded 2 diawa df100a spinning reels this year snagging. So I'm stickin with my Blue Runners . But if anyone knows if they ever made a 13ft Eagle Claw Cat Claw let me know . Until then I'm giving up my search for my dream rod and stickin with my 2 workhorses . For future review I'm gettin a diawa emcast sport 6000 . Maybe it'll last more than a year
