It appears to be fresh water mussels. The catfish stomachs here on the Wateree River are packed with these little mussles this time of year. We hunt for these shell beds and fish over them and have great luck. On Santee the big blues gourge themselves on these mussles but they are much larger than the ones we find in the river.
