just made me a couple bait holders for gills and minnows. the first one is made from a cooler. much to big to carry down the banks and such but for the truck and garage it should work great.
took a $6 bubble box and some tubing and got a $2 bobble stone and used marine adheasive to secure it to bottom. also attached a knife to it for easy access.
drilled a whole through the side for the tubing and used the marine sealent/ adh to seal it.
the big stone puts out more air than the small round one that came with the box.

this is it finished. we caught two bass and a bluegill and this kept them alive for hrs untill we cleaned them.

this one is a more portable one for moving bait around. took a clean 5 gal bucket and got an eliminator lid from cat connection. they are cool.
put a bubble box on the side through bucket and sealed with marine seal/ adh. drilled a whole for the air line and sealed.
attached the lid and filled with extra batteries and tackle.
also attached a knife through bucket for this one too.

Those are awesome Jeremy. One suggestion don't keep those hooks or those batteries in that 5 gallon buckets tackle box or both will be ruined.

Really good, Jeremy. It gives me some ideas. I really like that tackle tray deal, where did it come from?

great idea once again jeremy.
I've got a "transpoter" tank I made from a large plastic round plumbing container. I use it ti transport bait back to the house and to the fishing hole.
I'll take some pics and post tomorrow.

JR you can get bubbleboxes at Catfish connection, walleyworld, or just about any fishing goods store. Most run on 1, 2 or even 4 D-cell batteries.

Jeremy, why not post your idea here?

It's much easier for you to post it than for us to move it on this board. Give it a try and see how it works.
hey thanks for the info fwmud!

ok whistler. ihis new thing im still getting the hang of. i would have put it there in the first place but iv'e just in the past few days got my desk top going again. ive been on limited time at the library. ill get it in the works.
ive had a couple of pm's on where to get the bubble boxes. keith already hit it. i got em at wal-mart for $5.96 and the run on 2 d cells. will actually run on one but the second makes it speed up a tad and last longer but one would run it in a pinch.

I have a 55 gallon drum I use to keep minnows in at home, minners for crappie in the Spring and chubs for catfish in the Fall. I only have a bubble stone in it for aeration but will probably put a recirc system in it. I lose a lot of minners because of amonia buildup even though I put foam off in it. What filtration system is the best to keep the water clean and not lose so much bait? I usually start off buying 2 lbs of minners at a time but usually lose half of them. Is just an aquarium pump sufficient or is there something better and how long does it last before you have to clean it or change the filter?

Good ideas and engineering.
I rigged up an old cooler with an aerator that I got from Bass Pro Shops. I think it cost $20, and it runs off the trolling motor battery. It is great for keeping bait alive, or you can use it to keep cats alive for weigh-in during tournaments.
