Hey, welcome to the site! I think pretty much everyone on this site loves to fish, I know I sure do! I live in NC also, but fish Lake Gaston mostly. Never have heard of the Brood River.

The Broad River runs through Chimney Rock and Bat Cave and empties into Lake Lure. The main fishing done in the river is for trout. As for the French Broad, there is some good flathead fishing. All kind of log jams and brush piles. I've seen a couple of 40 pounders come out of the river. My biggest is a 31 pounder. Just bring you a few chubs, horny heads, bream, or small carp and hold on. You might hook into a large musky also. They stocked the river several years ago with sturgeon and I can't weight to catch one. You can't keep any but I sure would love to catch one. There are also some nice channel cats. I've never caught a blue in the French Broad. Sure would love to see them stocked.

Broad River has some great fishing. I fish it in Cleveland County NC some and alot in Cherokee County SC. You can float fish (by boat) from the Greenway off Hwy 150 to Gaston Shoals just above Gaffney SC.

From Lake Lure it makes it way down through Cleveland County and once in SC is runs to Columbia SC.
