Heading up to Drayton ND ( The catfish capital of the north) for the Rod and Reel rally on the Red.
I've never fished that river so it should be interesting. My good friend Mike and I are getting up there a day and a half early so we can get the feel of the river, so were not totaly lost come tourney time.
I'll try and remember to take some pics.

Well here's the results of the tourney.
First I want to mention this tourney is a 6 hour tourney from noon to 6 pm. Also this was the first time Mike had fished for cats.
We (Mike and I ) managed to pull off a 4th place and 10th place win.
Mike caught the 4th place fish at 19lbs 14oz. and I caught the 10th place it was 17lbs 4oz.
Largest fish was 22lbs 9oz.
I just got home so I'll post some pics after I get all the gray clay muck scrubbed off my gear. Man that is a muddy river, though the cats are plentyful and very pretty (if you can call them that).

Dave,
Great to hear you guys had success here on the Red. I saw the placings this morning and the average weights were a lot higher than in past years. I'm glad you had a good time and I'm excited to see your photos.
I hope you want to come back up to our neck of the woods again some time.

I'll be back for sure.
Next year I'm going to try and hit a few tourneys up there.
I guess there was a small tourney in Oslo on sunday that I could have fished had I known about it a little earlier.:sad2:

Dave,
Congrats to you and Mike on a great showing!
I snapped this picture of the Drayton Dam when I was up that way last year, I agree with the muddy comment :0a11:

Had the opportunity to fish the Drayton stretch for a couple days over the weekend. Man was the fishing awesome. We landed many large channels ranging from 12-27 pounds. They were mainly biting on large chunks of sucker but the last day we got them rolling on fresh goldeye. Great fishing right now.
