Can you get bluebacks at Lanier with a castnet or can they be caught on rod and reel?

I see lots of folks using cast nets around Balus Creek. Don't know about catching them on a hook. I know they do a lot of that at Lake Hartwell so I don't see why you couldn't do it on Lanier.

Most people use a cast net just before dawn with lights to attract em. You can also catch em on Sabiki rigs, but it's much slower that way.

If your in a boat and have a castnet take a ride back into flat creek near balus and just patrol the area till you see a school at the surface. There have been hordes of bluebacks and threadfin shad back there lately. If you head out at dusk and its flat you will see the schools all over the place on the surface
