Hey guys, if youd allow a Buckeye over there, I might make it for a day trip, Indy is 1.5 Hrs from me ( im 30 minutes from Richmond in Ohio) and my brother lives there so it would be a good excuse to see him. I get my Indiana license every year soi can smallmouth fish all your wonderful, never get any pressure smallmouth rivers!:p
I been wanting to do some cat fishing this year around Brookville and the lower Whitewater.

What about Hardy Lake? It isn't centrally located, but there is around 800 acres of water, nice campgrounds if anyone wants to camp, also plenty of places to bank fish for non-boaters.
The lake is south of Columbus and due east of Austin off of I-65

How about the White River in downtown Indy? Plenty of bank space and we could probably even get Westside Bait to sponsor it...it is right in front of their shop. Also, there are some nice flatheads and channels in that stretch right there.

As an outsider Im sure my opinion means nothing but, Im a bank guy so a bank friendly spot, and a place where there might be some flats as well as channels would be my vote. Indy is close for me so I would try to make that but any further and Id probably skip it. Just my.02

Are you refering to the side across the river from west-side or the concrete wall side?

Well! Now we're talkin! I'm down, hey Scotty, are you talking about WestSide Bait and Tackle on White River Parkway close to New York Street? That's an excellent idea! I am friends with the owner, his dad and my grandpa were friends when my dads' family lived in Haughville. There is ample room on the bank for fishing there. I wouldn't mind going to Hardy Lake either, so whatever you guys come up with I'm game. I know four or five members that would definately attend with my brother and I. When are we planning to go on this adventure? I am looking forward to meeting all of you guys!;)
P.S.- Hey Salmonid, I thought you were the one with pearly clean hands? Now you're the Nutty One. I'll see you at the gathering buddy.

With my luck so far this year, im 1 channel for 4 outings, they got nothing to worry about:p
Heck Im just wanting to go so I can see what a catfish looks like, I need to be reminded every so often.....

What are you talking about Dink? Of course we know what a Hoosier is........Okay maybe we don't.. Anyways, Dink, you and Salmonid are more than welcome to come to the gatherings and we'll make sure that it is a bank event. We'll have plenty of gatherings this year, you can be sure of that. Last year we had good turnouts for all of the gatherings so if you can't make one don't worry there will be another one soon enough.;) River Scum, we'll have to go out up in your neck of the woods sometime in the boats and catch some Hawgs! My brother and I usually fish Eagle Creek, but last year we only had one productive month when Eric caught a fifty-two pound flattie and several blues and channels, after that we had "The Great Drout of 2005" and after that we couldn't catch a damn thing.
Well well, if it isn't mr. Catfish. What's up buddy?
Pearly white nuts, Salmonid, you are one crazy guy!
Mr. Catfish

You guys couldn't catch a thing being the key words there buddy... I caught 13 one night while you guys were playing hold em.

It's alright though, we are going to catch some biguns this year ! My 13 were all little guppies compared to erics flat .. This time im bringing a camera, those pictures from my phone just weren't very good...

The camera is a definate necessity! That was terrible that we couldn't get a better picture of that monster. It was the biggest catfish I've ever seen, in person that is. Hey D, are you planning on coming? The gatherings are awesome! Everyone should go to this one!

Yep...the same one!! It would be on the "concrete" side...that is where most of the carp and cat tourneys are held. Plenty of parking...miles of bank space...and some 30 and 40 lb flatheads there....sounds like a great spot to me!! :)

I'm definitely down for a gathering. I agree that the White River by Westside Bait and Tackle would be a great location. There is plenty of area to bank fish and I caught a 46 lb. flathead there last spring. Also, if we go right down the street by the railroad bridge we can have fires and you can launch a boat if you have one. If no there I think Catarac is a good option. The next state record flathead is probably going to come out of there. I personally would like one of our Indiana BOC members to get it!!!

June 10 works for me, would we meet Friday night and do a all nighter into Saturday or just want to do a all day event on Sat? Just asking to spark interest either way.
Fishgeek, Ill gladly share my bait, but it will be a "Dont Ask, Dont Tell" type of deal when you start asking where the scales are on my bait....:p

It is going to be a lot of fun and it will be a good chance to meet the fellow brothers. See you guys there!;) We'll fish all night Friday night into Saturday, grilling, fishin, tellin stories and drinkin (I will be atleast)lol.

Sounds good to me. Haven't been in westside bait shop in years. My dad and me and some of them older guys used to go up to Michgan city and fish the Salmon run back in the early 80s.:) :) Miss them days and my DAD!!!!

June 10th is good for me. I think we should still set up a spring outing though. June 10th can be the summer outing. I would like to try and get out in the prespawn instead of waiting until the bite slows down. I know I will be out anyway but the more the merrier.

I will just say this....anytime anyone wants to go, just send me a PM. I have been fishing all winter long, so cold doesnt bother me...I am ready to tangle with a big flatty or blue. Will have to be bank fishing though...I dont have a boat...yet.

ok we have a date rite, june 10th. im not familiar with the indy area so you guys down there will have to set that up. if its the white and there is a ramp, what size boat are we talkin? should i bring the 12fter or the 16? how deep and rocky is it? bank fishing would be ok too though. someone said fires are allowed, that would be a must for me to warm beanie weenies! lol i could also bring the fish cooker and should have a batch of small flatheads by then too.

We will be bank fishing the White River, and it's located on White River Parkway right before you get into Downtown, Indianapolis. Do you guys want to fish the the bank close to the waterfall or do you want to fish in front of Westside Bait and Tackle? It doesn't matter to me, but I know there is more than enough room by the dam/waterfall, we can go about two hundred yards down and fish there, I saw some downed trees in the water last week there so it might be a good spot to try out. I'm with you on the Spring gathering Joe! June is a far way away and I think it is necessary to start coming up with Spring gathering details. I'll start a new thread on the Spring gathering.
ScottWiseman
02-21-2006, 01:44 PM
Either place is fine.....I would feel safer by the dam if we have a large group of people...I wont fish there by myself. Either place can produce some quality fish. Spring get-together? Bring it on....the sooner the better!!

man Scott that dont sound good! will i need to leave the 357 at home and bring the street sweeper instead? lol
Mr. Catfish
02-21-2006, 02:48 PM
We will be alright down there... Don't think anyone would mess with us but if they do i'll have the .40 cal on my hip.
LilRyjoe04
02-21-2006, 02:54 PM
It's on the outskirts of Haughville, which isn't a very friendly place to be at night..., but we'll be fine, just bring the 357 and the street sweeper.:) I'm just playin! You have nothing to worry about. This area has been known to produce some nice flats and blues. We'll have plenty of people there so we'll be fine and if I'm not correct I think you can drive your car down by the water. I could be wrong but if not, we're only going to be a hundred yards from the vehicles. Don't worry guys, I'll bring my assault rifle.LOL!!!
river scum
02-21-2006, 03:06 PM
rgr on the artillary,if we are only a hundred yrds away then we will be cool with our assault rifles. ill still bring the sweeper for close in bait stealers. lmao

02-21-2006, 04:20 PM
Haha....I feel safe now! I am just saying I dont fish there by myself at night....if I have someone else or a group, it will be fine. I think we will have an arsenal....haha.

I only live about 10 minutes away from this location. I fished there overnight 4-5 per week all last summer and never had a problem with anyone messing with me. The majority of the time I was down there by myself. We won't have any problems. If anyone gives us a problem we can just hit em with some big sinkers or something. A well placed 3-5 oz. sinker can make a pretty good dent in your head.
