I have been reading the posts and it sure is nice to see others out there fishing for cats. I plan to go this coming weekend and try again. I wish I had a better idea of what to use for bait and what areas of the backwater to fish in, I plan to fish the drop offs between 6 and 18 feet with live minnows or bluegills if I can catch a few for bait, I must be able to find them somewhere in that range.

Welcome to the boc mike! Man did you hit paydirt with this thread. I can tell ya just about all you need to know for fishing cats but need to know where you plan to fish and what part of michigan your living in. Let me know so i can give you the right info!
