Kev, I caught a couple of five lb blues last wednesday. Also have snagged a couple of paddlefish at Markaland this week. Vern

I heard that paddlefish can put up a pretty good fight. Is it true? How big were they?

Last time I went out on the river since the cold weather hit we didnt even get a bite. Then again I didnt give it but about 2 or 3 hours before I went home.

Had a buddy go out this past Sunday and catch 3 blues. He was fishing around Carrolton. The biggest was 35lbs. and the smallest was 16lbs. It sounds like to me the blues might be ready to turn on. Good luck guys.

Is there anywhere to bank fish around Markland on the river that might be good this time of year? I dont have a boat...but I am not scared by the cold.

Hey Scooter there is a park there by the dam. I've seen it on my way to the casino and it looks like there are steps leading from the park down to the shore. It looked like a real good place top fish. Cleared and gravel. I wonder if they would allow someone to build a fire on the bank.

Scott, there is a huge shorline that can be fished from the Indiana side. It is pretty nice since it is mostly gravel and sand. Also if you are agile on your feet you can park at the Cinergy power station just above the park area and fish at the turbine discharge. That's where I catch all of my good cats in the summer months.
Mark I have seen people pitch tents, build fires etc. several times. Vern

I see people with small campfires down there quite often. There is a nice park with plenty of parking space and concrete steps going all the way down the bank.

Yep Yep Yep, everyones right about Marland. There is a real nice park right above it with steps leading down. The is even public restrooms there also. There is a lot of good fishing the during the summer but I'm not sure about the winter. It would be worth giving it a shot though.

Maybe we can get a Indiana gathering there sometime. Do some fishing then hit the casino. Then go back and fish somemore.

I think it would be a great idea to have a gathering there. I love fishing the Ohio and I will try and make it. I have fished Markland by boat but never from shore.

I have driven by it alot when I go to the boat, but I have never fished there. Looks like a good place.

You have got to love the Ohio for big cats. I rarely fish anywhere else for cats...and we have some awesome catches from it. I have never catfished at the damn, but the strippers are fun there. If you go right up against the power plant you can watch them chase the minnows up the wall and catch some nice fish there.
