Hello, everyone!
I'm new here, and eager to get on with the catfishing. I've been reading the old BOC site for a while and decided it would be great to join up.
I live in Hastings and haven't done much fishing for a while. While growing up I did a lot of fishing in the Platte River and in sand pits.
I look forward to meeting you all on line and maybe getting together to do some serious fishing!

Hi all I try to do a lot of fshing, and yet never enough. My favorite places, are Harlen Res. Gahlegar Canyon, Elwood and some of the closer ones now that gas prices are up will become some of my new list. I only live a mile from the Blue river but don't fish it much unless looking for bait. I try to make most of my own bait, just for the fact that I'm to far from any bait shop, and is hard to keep it alive till I get home. I'm new to the site here and not much good on the computer so will take me some time to get used to posting things and manuvering threw the site so bare with me I'll try to improve. Looking forward to the summer and meeting other fishermen. Great site Thanks to Catfish1 and the BOC

hey everybody i'm new here, i will be moving back to niobrara ne in two weeks from ft carson co. till the age of 19 i fished the niobrara river, missouri river, brazil creek, morman canal, backwaters from all the running water, and farm ponds. fished 80 percent catfish and 20 percent everything else. I grew up living only 70 or 80 yards from the niobrara river (depends on the path the river took that year). During my school years summer break consisted of nothing but catfishing. In high school i found my way into an airboat and began setting lines out. when i get back to niobrara i will again run lines and do alot of shore fishing with rod and reel.

Howdy all,
I am from a small town by Auburn, (that Sudman kid is familiar, I am sure). I don't get out to the bigger lakes a lot of you guys mentioned, and don't foresee it changing this summer with the price of gas! The farthest I will probably get this year is the lakes around Hickman and a little west. My brother lives in the area, so it is a good excuse to get that way! I wish I could say I was a hard core cat man like the rest of you, but I have to admit, I could really care less what is biting most of the time, as long as I can get something on my line!
I have set two goals for this summer
1. to catch and fry as many different species as I can
2. to catch a fish bigger than my newborn! (for the record, birth weight was 6# 9oz.)
I am new to the site, and what I have come across so far is friggin awesome! Thanks to everyone who has made this such an informative and fun place to be.

Hey, I'm pretty new here too. I'm from Nebraska, currently in Minnesota. I make it back at least a couple times a year for fishing and/or hunting. My family has some land straight north of Fremont on the Elkhorn river. I'm from South Sioux, used to fish the Missouri and Crystal Cove. I fished Wagon Train a bit when I was at Lincoln, and I fished the Platte when I lived in Kearney.

Wanted to share some pics I got from the tornado we had last week in Johnson. I wanted to get some up sooner, but I didn't have any until today. It could have been much worse! Nobody was hurt and only one house was damaged badly. Most of it was businesses along a block and a half of Main street.

I live just south of Omaha, I could cast a snoopy pole and enter Douglas county. I love to fish Walnut Creek, Two Rivers, Memphis (need to get back there) and Ive been to Harlan and Merritt. Standing Bear has some good fish in it, and now Cunningham is filling back up after its renovation. Its been at least 2 years since I drowned bait in Lincoln, but Stagecoach and Wagontrain are my favorites in the capitol city. Ive been wanting to do some river fishing, but the Missouri hasnt been user friendly lately.

I'm from Lincoln, usually fish for LMB, channel cats, or bowfish carp. Had luck in Pawnee for carp, that creek in the northwest corner has alot of different species hiding. Stagecoach for bass, again that creek in the south I like to take my canoe deep back there and get the pigs that hide out. Caught many large fish back there, and released them. I even caught a Pike back there couple years ago, caught him twice actually. Had a titanium leader with a frog and he curled the leader like a piece of hair will do with enough pressure. For cats there is always branched oak, full moon, and the flatties will be there, catch and release for the flats, but blues and channels you could keep. Usually go with about 7 feet of line between circle hook, and goldfish, and the lit-up bobber. cast 10 foot off the piers and be patient. For flatties, that's the technique, channels I have a pole out on the bottom with a chunk of chicken liver, circle hook, no weight no bobber. Bass, I usually fish more from a finesse point of view. At the baitshop on 48th and highway 2 there is a small purple worm with a white line down it's back and a white dot on the back of the head. This lure has 3 small hooks down the body at equal intervals. And some types have small weed guards that prevent moss build up. I say screw the weed guards though, for me they weigh the lure down too much so that it sinks far too fast, and they also will cause a problem with hook set on those fish that just barely pick it up and cruise away, the guards will make it pop at least 25percent more often. Screw em, pull the moss or weeds off after every other cast and you're good to go with my bass blaster. Good luck Huskers.

Hello I'm from grand Island and I usually fish mormon Island, Sherman, and the platt river occasionly. I usually fis h for LM Bass, SM Bass, and if I get lucky I'll get a channel cat every once in a while. but I haven't fished very much lately so. But I'm thinking that I'm going to change my focus from bass to cat's they seem much more fun a fight more then bass when I do hook them up. looking forward to meeting up with some of you guys and seeing how the fishing goes.

Originaly from SE Kansas, but here about two years now. Spend most of my time on Harlin Co. lake. I fish for anything. Walleye, whites, crappie, but have a lot of fun drifting the ledges / flats for channel. Biggest fish was a forty pound flathead (accident) years ago while bass fishing, lol.

Hey Everybody, My name's Matt and I live in Lincoln. I Catfish about 80 percent of the time and the other 20 for whatever else is biting! Have fished about everywhere in Nebraska you can think of in the past, but around Lincoln I mainly fish the Salt Creek near Ashland, Missouri River near Plattsmouth, Conestoga Lake, Pawnee Lake and Stagecoach Lake. I lived in Tennessee for awhile and learned how to fish rivers and creeks with good success but bank fishing on the lakes can be pretty hit and miss for me so any tips would be greatly appreciated! Hope to talk to ya'll soon!

I grew up in Beatrice and lived there for 25 yrs., my mother called me a river rat cuz I was always down on the Blue river with my bike chasing channels. Every creek in the area we knew where the holes were, I think all of us know that drill, catching bait or WHATEVER.
I now live in Nixa mo. and have some of the greatest lakes in the U.S. within a hours drive from my driveway. Tablerock,Bullshoals,Stockton,Pomme De Terre, and the mother of all lakes in Missouri, Truman. Catfishing is something else on Truman:big_smile:
Any of you Huskers ever want to checkout Truman let me know and we'll work something out. I'll be back in Beatrice this Thanksgiving cuz most of my family still lives in Beaterville and I still like coming home just don't fish there anymore:crazy:
