I like to fish near structure, if available. If no good structure then i fish shallow water at night just above a deep hole. With shinners and creek chubs i have a problem keeping gar off the bait, i try to always have bluegill when fishin for hawgs.
ditto, if your in a lake fish shallow water near the deeper creek channel. i like using shiners and chubs but only during the cooler months. they die really easy in very warm water.

When I bank fished I had my most success at the mouth of feeder creeks.

If I can find structure in a outside bend on a deep hole I have found a good spot.

Feeder creeks are always good ;)
What about under cut banks does that ever work for anyone??
I try to fish dams when I can they always seem to produce some kinda fish!

Most people swear by steep cut mudbanks with structure and good depth.

I think I know where abouts your fishing. I would look for anything different than what you normally see. If there is structure fish that and maybe put another bait 10' or so away from that in open water.
Shiners should be better than nothing.

Joe, all you need to remember when fishing from the bank in prespawn is to fish rocks, You can either fish along a rocky natural shore or look for places with manmade riprap(such as below a dam). In the prespawn cats go to rocky places, because that is where they find holes to nest. Vern

Find the biggest log jam in the deepest water. Or rip-rap is good for flatheads.
