big blue catfish

i fish the wabash, and ive been trying to catch blues in this cold weather but with no luck. im using 7/0 hooks with shad but with no luck. im fishing a 30-40 foot hole thats doesnt have much current. its the deepest place for 12 miles. can someone help me

Are you sure there are blues in that part of the river? I don't know how far up you are fishing but the farther up you go the less blues are around. Conversely, if you are way down it's possible they have dropped back into the Ohio. Are you fishing from shore or boat? If boat are you marking any fish? Use BIG pieces of the bloodiest bait you have got and try to drop them at different depths on the slope of the drop off into the hole...W

I agree with metalman. You may just be in the wrong spot. Just because its a deep hole doesn't mean they are there. Also, blues seem to prefer a faster moving current. Since the current there is slow this may explain why you haven't caught any blues.
