FOR MY BIRTHDAY, MY WIFE GAVE ME A HUMMINGBIRD FISH FINDER THAT ATTACHES TO THE ROD. THERE IS A SEPERATE TRANSDUCER THAT YOU CAST OUT. I HAVE ONLY PLAYED WITH IT A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT SO FAR THIS WAS A NIFTY LIL GADGET. IT GIVES DEPTH, TEMP, SHOWS STRUCTURE AND HAS AN ALARM THAT WILL BEEP WHEN A FISH IS ON THE SCREEN. I DO NOT HAVE A BOAT SO FOR A BANK FISHERMAN LIKE ME THIS THING IS GREAT.

I have had one since they first came out, and I have put it through its paces. The LCD does mess up if you use it in downpours, and now mine has permanently stopped working. IMO they are a great piece for bank fisherman looking for structure, but don't use the device in too much bad weather or you may suffer a similar fate.
